Dave, that is a cool bike...once U get UR leg, I can just see U out tooling around.  Did I hear U say U were Columbus.....I live afew miles from Athens, Oh.  There used to be a lady from around Cincinniti on here, but haven't heard from her lately.

Have a nice day.   :)

Just do not fall & not have on UR button to push for the ER guys....or U could say this  "I've fallen & I can't get up" ...kidding, just be careful U do not fall in the shower.,  U could end laid up for several days.   ;)

Sounds as if U were in the right place @ the right time.....very happy for U.  I know with UR attitude U will be on the road to anywhere U want to go.    I am having some trouble with getting a new liner to fit correctly....there isn't enough padding @ the bottom to keep me from hurting while wearing it.  This will make the 3rd. one they R making me.  Should be here today by FED-X.   U know what they say, third one is a charm.  Sure hope so.  I can't believe when they have the one U R wearing everyday as a pattern , they have such a hard time duplicating it.  Just saying.........

BTW, glad I received an answer to my moving statement.   :)

General Discussion / Re: Has being amp held you back or pushed you forward?

I just have a comment to add regarding balance etc.  I agree all prosthetists are not doing a good job to help new amputees, I have learned from a trainer (non amputee) that balance exercises and core strengthening are great for amputees and will help no matter what age you are.

Thanks Dolphin, I appreciate your comments.

Great question!  I think it changed my life a lot at least physically.  I think people tend to treat you differently and I spend a lot of time/energy proving I don't need special treatment. It has slowed me down but I try to be graceful about accepting and( asking for help when I need it).  I was older (50's) when I lost my leg.  I think it was easier  for me to accept it and move on.  To answer your question I do think my life would have been quite different.  It has held me back but I have learned patience and acceptance (most of the time).  annieg

annieg, I agree with U concerning having to learn patience & acceptance.  I {like U} lost my leg when I was in my 50's.  I think we might have had a harder time learning to do things where a much younger person would have just proceeded due to not knowing anything different.  I will tell U the older U get, U do not have the same balance and stamia as when younger....  Part of this was due to not having a good caring prosethetist.  I live in a small town and we do not have the same advantages as larger cities having better qualified & more experienced people in the business.  Yes, amputation has held me back.

Indeed VERY shocking news here also.  He held such high respect for what he had acccomplished.  It is so sad.  Hoping he really didn't know who it was @ the time the shots rang out.

Keep us posted. ;)

I think there is about 5 or 6 that post with any regularity here.

I preferred the old forum format. I also miss Joe A. posts.

I've posted quite a few times and when I've tried to attach a picture to the post, when the picture is too large, the forum deletes the text I've typed.

That's why I only check in once and a while.

David in Canada.

I do miss Joe so much...I do hope he's still here with us and wish if someone knows how to contact him...please do & let us know how he is getting along.  I know he had alot of physical problems.

David, I think ur right on...we used to have many GOOD times kidding each other; debating each other & even writing stories with each one completing the story as we went along.  Giving a heads up on trips that were to be taken & just all around having a great time even though r buddies were internet friends.   ;)
