General Discussion / Re: Cloning a socket?
« on: December 06, 2012, 12:39:29 PM »
Scott and Pin-hi, i am real picky when it come to my legs, i have at time gone through four sets of test sockets before i let them make to final one for me, and they must fit like and old pair of shoes or i dont accept them, and i mean no sore or tight spot at all on either socket.

they can come real close to doing  it but not perfect, it is  best to have them make a test socket first and try that on you first before they make your socket.

I dont know about IRELAND, but have heard about doc's getting sued for helping some one in need and not call 911 for them, most doc's here in the states will usually back off and wait for the paramedics to get there and then with them as witness's will treat a person and then only to help get that person ready for transporting to hospital.

Steve, i get it from time to time and it usually mean one leg or the  other is either to short or on is to long.
Here is a test that i do my self, i have  some 1/4 inch plywood squares and i lay one on the floor and then place one of my prosthetics on it and stand up right on it and it will tell you which leg is causing the pain in my back

This may work for you and it may not, for i am not a doctor nor do i claim to be one.

Also just by adding a sock or two will also do the trick.

dAVID, one of  the main reason  it has and i have let it go on is the fact that it effects us amputees directly which is in the OBAMA CARE BLL which he has signed into law already, and that is it does away with DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT in mecicare which pays for most of us's legs and arms, if you get a chance pull that bill up and read it it will take you a couple of days to get thru it, it took me a week to read it all.

Ann, we have relitives that live in a small town south of MEXICO  CITY, dont know the name of it right now, but we have them looking out for a house that my wife can buy for she carries a dual citizinship, aand we can own land down there as long as it is in her maiden name,  DONT like looking into this, but just got a answer back from my representive for this area and was nothing but a run around the mulberry bush, which is nomal for them now days.

Ann, we also have family that lives in MEXICO CITY  it self, but dont want to live there to many people there.
my  nest step is to find out if we can get our SOCIAL SECURITY sent down there to us, believe that we can but will have to get it in writting.

i am willing go give him the benifit of doubt, but if he pulls the same thing that he did in 2008, i dont want him and that  was trying to  make our boys coming back from the wars, that were injuried pay for thier health care, that really put me agianst him and fast, cause i gave our country 9 rpt 9 years in the US NAVY and was proud of it, now we are having to fight like cats and dogs to get medical coverage and we are VIETNAM VETS, and we are still fighting to get things done that need to be done.
Dont know yet and am looking into it today, possibly getting the RESETTA STONE PROGRAM for spanish and learning it and then possibly selling out and heading south to live, it is a lot cheaper to live down there and they have just as good of doctors therre as we have up here and my wifes familly has 2 docs now. dont like what i have read in that OBAMA CARE BILL that he signed into law, cause in 2014 it does away with DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT  in MEDICARE, and that is what  pays for my legs when i need them and i will and it looks like i will need a new pair around that time.

Just to l et everyone know if OBAMA gets back in figure on paying for your legs and arm your self, especially if that obama care goes into effect, cuase it does away with DERABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT in medicare which pays for our legs, with in two yeaars i will be perminatly in a wheel chair cause i cannot afford to pay for them my self not at the cost they are at now days.

dont like to sound like a doom sayer, but if that OBAMA CARE goes into effect they is gonna be a lot of that happening right here in the states, cause it does away with DURABAL MEDICAL EQUIPMENT in MEDICARE and thaat is were our legs and arms fall under, i am lucky that i am drawing VA compensation and can get mine made by uncle sam, but done know how  longe that will last though.

The guy has done a great job on them, just showes what one can do it you but your mind to  it.

i use one as much as possible, hqve two small miter boxes that i use but it is the angles that get me, and iwas using it as a sawmill when it happened i was cutting some pieases down to size and without relizing it i switched sides of the saw went to hold it down and it was on the other side and i layed my fingers right into the saw blade. what hurts the most is where the doc but the needle in to deaden my fingers so that he could sew me up, he shoved and scrapedd the bones real bad an it is all awelled up and real sore this morining.

spent the last four hours in ER get my fingers sewed back up, seven stiches in both my index and middle fingers down to the bone, I droped my hand into my table saw agian, makes the fourth time now for those two fingers and i know it will not be the last time because of the small work i do, and i free hand cut the small pieaces. and it is one big saw, the top measures 5X7 inches and uses a 3 inche carbide blade.

know whaat you mean, about losing your power, then on your other paragragh, i feel for those that lost there homes BUT I DONT FEEL SORRY, if you look close you can see where they let the trees and bushes grow right up close to the house and that made it a fire trap. if they was to keep it cleared around there home they might not have lost a many, this i know for a fact cause i was raised in the northeaster part of wyoming and i know first hand just what a forest fire can do, we lost our bussines cause of one.
