General Discussion / New forum, new website
« on: March 25, 2008, 10:33:34 AM »
Thanks to all of you for working with the new forum.  It's so nice for me not to have to delete all the unwanted postings like on the old forum.  Or goal in the future is to have the postings sorted under subjects for ease of reference.

We are also renovating the whole website, with new stuff and a better look.  I expect to have it all done within a month.  Any thoughts or ideas from you guys are welcomed.  I've already rewritten "How to Choose a Prosthetist", although it's not on the current website.  I am thinking of a "Rate Your Prosthetist" section.  There is already a "Rate Your Doctor" website, so this may be a helpful source for amputees.  I really need your input on this one though.  Should I do it?  What would that section of the website look like in terms of format, questions, opinions etc.

Trademarks are easy to get.  Go to the copyright office website or office, pick a name (that of course is not already trademaked) pay a fee and you have a tradmark.  The fee itself is not very much.  I have a Pump-It-Up! TM trademark for my patented Pump-It-Up socket.  Patents are completely different.  They are time consuming, expensive and may require a patent attorney and on going fees to keep active.  I have three patents on my socket so the whole process was quite an experence for me.

If anyone is ever in Washington D.C. they should visit the U.S. Patent Office, it's a neat place to see.

Joe,
When I read your post yesterday I had to take time to compose myself.  At this point, no words could ever express my sorrow at the crossroads you are now facing.  You've have been a great asset to this forum and I expect an inspiration to everyone who knows you.  It's strange that even though we never met, I always thought how nice it would be to have you as my neighbor and friend.  Your wit and especially your ability to put it in writing, always caught my attention, and frankly I was always somewhat jealous I couldn't mimic your "charm".

Just think of all the people you have helped writing into this forum over the years.  Dozens of people contribute by posting, but hundreds read this forum everday and if nothing else they know they are not alone.  They all lose something if we lose you.  You're in my prayers.

In my opinion / Re: Pefect Stride II foot
« on: March 01, 2008, 07:59:43 AM »
Tiger,
I have not used a Perfect Stride Foot on any of my clients, although I have seen it.  You could try several different feet from different manufactures to see which one you like best.  I don't believe that any one foot is better than another, because the best foot is the one you feel best with.  Every manufacture claims their product is better than any other.

I do suggest that you try the Ceterus foot by Ossur.  I use it on active amputees because of it's many features.  It has a split toe and heel (carbon fiber) built-in rotation and air shock.  The rotation and air shock are adjustable by the user with a small hand held air pump.  If you do compare the two let us all know what you think.  www.ossur.com

Hi Ginger,
You should try Melatonin 5 mg.  Like you I have difficulty with good sleep.  Do a Google search and read all about Melatonin.  You can buy it in places like Walmart but it's better quality from a good health food store.  Since you live here go to the Olive Branch on Ellicott st across from Wortzman Furniture to get the best stuff.  Also Kava Kava and Valerian Root work well.  One hour after taking Melatonin I am sound asleep.  I am sure it's the most well researched sleeping aid ever.  Melatonin is a chemical already in your brain.

Let us know what you think / Re: This Looks Good!
« on: February 15, 2008, 03:59:12 PM »
Hello all you guys,
We finally have a new forum, how cool not to have to go to my computer at 5 am and delete all the porn and other junk.  I was checking in 15-20 times a day to delete all that garbage, now I feel like a new man.

Let me thank you all for being so patient with me.  Next I want to rework the survey part of the website which is currently closed because it got a lot of spam also.  I may change some of questions also, but I am open to ideas.  I really want to know your experiences in getting your prosthesis and your opinion on prosthetists good/bad etc.  Also the whole insurance stuff because I know how it effects so many of you and I have to deal with it everyday.  Anyway, it's getting near quitting time and it's friday, a cold beer, some good food and relaxation, and the Daytona 500 on Sunday!  Is life good or what?  Have a great weekend.
