It's nice to be back. It's nice to be anywhere at this point. I really didn't think I would make it. I'm still not well but I'm upright, dressed and out of bed again. I look really bad. I haven't had a haircut or a shave since february. I need to get to Waco Tx. to see my daughter. At 26 she was recently diagnosed with cancer.

My brother who stepped on me offered to take me in his motorhome as driving and flying are out. It will still cost me around 2000 in fuel.

I don't know how you do it Steve. Are things close by?

That's right Boy's and Girls he's back. Pen your hogs and hide your women or vice versa as the case may be ;)

What a terrible year I'm having so far. First the heart thing them my brother stepped on me and broke my good leg. One leg and it's broke. Can you sat Up Shi$ creek boys and girls? I can and without a paddle as well.

Lets just address all the silliness shall we?

What's the best foot for you?
The one that works. Ask your practitioner to explain.

Ratchet/Smooth pins vs. Vacuum?
The one that holds your foot on best. Ask your practitioner to explain.

Are you allergic?
anyone can be allergic to anything. I'm allergic to Taxes.

Now on to the off topic stuff. Teo you bellowing closet Republican, are you saying that those Commie Russian ba$tards are taking The independent nation of Georgia because God and George Bush told them to? I guess it wouldn't have much to do with the russians wanting control of the oil pipeline would it?

(Sniff... sniff...) is that the coffee I smell. Wake Up! Oil is the currency of the planet. Those who have it and those who control it rule the world. Remember a little fellow named Saddam Husein? His plot was to take Kuwait and dump a lot of cheap oil on the market and topple the global economy. Oil would have been nearly $20 dollars per barrel. Look where it got him. Had he been successful he would be ruling the world.

Do you realize that as Americans we couldn't afford to live in Europe? Ask Allen what a two bedrom flat and a gallon of fuel costs in London. For the most part we've got it made in America. We have our way of life because we have people who are willing to go over there and kick some "Towelhead".

I am alive. I am not well but plan to be in about another 3 months or so. Or at least until the next time it gets me. It upsets me to have to sit and watch another summer go by knowing there will be so few left. I have received cards and letters from people all over the world. Some who've never even posted here but like to read the forum. I will respond to all of you with a return address as soon as I can write. It meant the world to me to hear from you. I was really down when the Demon came to visit and said, "You got a call today from a friend of yours in Texas..." I'll get back to that when I'm less emotional.

But more to the point. What did I learn that I can share with you?"

What happened to me has become very commonplace for men my age and older. Regardless of what disease brought you to that point. It's generally refered to as a CABG, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft or "Cabbage".

Hospitals that perform the surgery, and most don't, will boast a recovery rate stating 97 or 98% success. What they don't tell you is that rate is based on those they feel would be successful candidates for surgery and doesn't reflect the numbers of people they turn away.

In order to reach your heart you are sawed straight down the middle then your sternum is forced apart. When you are closed, the sternum is laced with wire to hold you together. As am amputee I was well used to hoisting myself using my arms. The result was that I broke the wires holding my sternum together along with the sternum. There are no words to describe the level of pain this causes. The surgery had to be done all over again. Remember this if you find yourself in a hospital bed.

Hi,
S'just me. Joe A. I hope in all the Hubbub of the new forum you find this post. I haven't posted for a while. I've been in the hospital. It seems that old blood thing is finally getting the best of me and has impacted the arteries of my heart. I was granted a short reprieve due to an infection of an IV site postponing open heart surgery and sending me home for 2 weeks. I have to say I really don't think I'll beat this one. I feel like I'm 150 and look like it as well. I'm so tired of fighting to stay alive. It's always been one catastrophe after another. They only have one leg to harvest veins and the bypasses will be connecting to already damaged heart muscle anyway but such is my lot in life and I accept this new blessing with the same grateful appreciation as all.

Unlike my leg ordeal, I am glad that I have had some advanced warning to settle my affairs. I am right with God and at peace with the world but I could not rest in peace without taking the opportunity to tell you all that I love you dearly. Those of you who years ago talked me in off the ledge and those of you who have helped give my life purpose and meaning by letting me share my experience with you. Knowing you all has made a difference in my life that could have only come from you who have shared the experience of surviving an amputation.

I will not blather on like a Big Fat Sissy Lala Nancy Boy. I wish you fair winds and following sea's. If I don't make it back I will be scattered at sea. I must say thank you to Mike Love for hosting this forum.

Mike,
You saved my life.

Ok. First of all I'm not interesting. I'm more of a curiostiy like driving past a car wreck. You don't want to look but find yourself strangely compelled. Often asking yourself, "How does he know that?"

Do a search for Leptin

Well you see it's kind of like this you know. A Spellchecker is a lot like a fine woman. You've got to know what to click on to make everything work.

That's no lady. That's my wife.....

Steve your picture looks good but Marilyn you need to adjust your camera down a little bit  ;)

This new forum is great. Lots of toys and colors. Now if we could just find someone to say something profound to start things off.

I nominate the Reverend Stevens as the forum chaplain and request he give us benediction to start things off on the right foot or left foot. He might have probem logging in as he won't be able to see the key.

"Doc". You save lives.
