General Discussion / research on tissue regeneration
« on: May 14, 2008, 08:24:10 AM »
Here is a link to  an interesting article I read in Newsweek on tissue regeneration. I wish this spray on skin was available when I had my accident. At least some good research is being being done to help our wounded vets. Herb

Hi All - here is a link to an inspiring story of a west point graduate who lost both legs in a tragic "friendly fire" incident in Iraq. He is now playing lacrosse, snow boarding, skiing,  and working on the wounded warrior project. I saw this on NBC news this evening. Herb

General Discussion / Parity insurance legislation
« on: February 28, 2008, 10:03:32 PM »
Hi All - New jersey governor signed a new parity law today assuring amputees adequate insurance coverage. It is the eighth state to do so and i understand that there is progress on a federal bill. It is about time that insurance companies recognized that prosthetic care is medical care. herb

General Discussion / agility microprocessor knee
« on: February 21, 2008, 09:02:00 PM »
Hi - my five year old c-leg has stopped working. The lower leg swings free with no control. Has anybody had this problem. I called my prosthetist and learned that a repair could cost as much as $6,000 with only a maximum of 1 year guarantee. I think it is time to get a new leg with a three year guarantee and newer technology. On of my prosthetists is using the agility knee. He speaks very highly of it and it has several new features. Does anybody on the forum have experience with this knee? Thanks, Herb
