General Discussion / Re: Has being amp held you back or pushed you forward?

Great question!  I think it changed my life a lot at least physically.  I think people tend to treat you differently and I spend a lot of time/energy proving I don't need special treatment. It has slowed me down but I try to be graceful about accepting and( asking for help when I need it).  I was older (50's) when I lost my leg.  I think it was easier  for me to accept it and move on.  To answer your question I do think my life would have been quite different.  It has held me back but I have learned patience and acceptance (most of the time).  annieg

You do realize that grandchildren (and greats) are our reward for not killing our own children!  LOL  We don't often have to say no.  That's their parents job. It is one of the joys of getting older.  I can't think of the rest right now!  Enjoy them while we can they will be pain in the butt teenagers soon (but not our problem).  Steve, you never know what's in the future.  It's alway full of suprises.  Thank you all for being here.  Have a great night.  We just survived 4 days of no heat, power or phones.  30 degrees in the house.  Nasty but it's over. annieg

Thanks guys for listening toy sob story.  It helps to talk to people who "get it".  I am lucky to have one good leg.  I'm back up and about, annoying everyone.  Thanks, annieg

Hello All,  I fell the other day.  My own fault, I didn't watch where I was going.  I slammed my leg and twisted my knee.  I'm lucky it's only badly bruised.  I had to use crutches and leave the leg off.  It reminds me that it doesn't take much to bring an amputee down. What a pain!  It makes me think I should be more grateful for all the good days I have and that I can get around most days just fine. Just spouting off - thanks for listening.  ;) annieg

Thanks guys!  You gotta take some chances in life.  This is mine!  Lol  Steve, I'm envisioning your ankles being tied and your leg popping off.  You could make some money off the the video, maybe enough for your funeral.  Ann, I 'm not that brave but at my age it's now or never.  Davec afraid of GMC jimmys?  annieg

Thanks,  I'll let you know how it goes.  I'm going to try it in late spring.  It'll definitely be a tandem jump.  Ann, it's something I always wanted to do and now is the time!  annieg

I am working on my bucket list.  I have always wanted to try skydiving.  Has anyone else tried it?  Do you remove your prothesis?  Anything special I should know?  Thanks, annieg

I think we all get so involved in our own lives we forget to check in.  This site has been a god sent to me.  I don't know any other amputees so this is my only link to that world.  I have learned so much from the people here.  I value all the people here who have taken the time to help each other with questions/problems.  Thanks all.  annieg

Merry Christmas to all!  My favorite Christmas movie is the oldie "White Christmas". " Remember if we all pitch in a put on a show we can save the General's Inn."  ::) Sappy I know but it gives a nice warm feeling and that's usually what we look for this time of year. annieg
