General Discussion / Re: The Iraq War - For or Against?

Thanks, OBL, you are a dear.

And friend Steve, I am indeed Canadian...and Welsh!  But doesn't everybody have at least a drop of Irish in them?  The very good most excellently refined drop.  ;)    If we don't, we should!

I've always worn what is now I think considered an old-fashioned quad socket, where, yes, I sit on the back ledge, but a lot of weight is carried, yep, in the groin...or at least it is now, OBL.

You know, I've been trying to get back to where I was last spring when a new-to-me prosthetist took my not so bad socket and literally wrecked it and he didn't have a clue how to make it right and/or to fit me anew.

So I found a new guy, the only one I could find anywhere near by, who does quads...and I've kind of forgotten how it felt before now.  I've been seeing him since the end of April, doing day long trips to see him, only to go back again the next week.  I'm tired, man, and now his shop made not one, but two crappy cosmesis covers, one way too fat, and the second too thin and weirdly shaped.  I'm just a tad fed up and I want this to be over.

Sorry for the grumps.  I'm going back again on the 19th, for yet another cover, and I'll talk more about the groin discomfort.  Thanks, OBL.

General Discussion / Re: ever forget your missing a limb?

I had my amputation at nine years old and was told never to fall on the amputated limb, and it must have made one heck of a groove in my brain as I have never, ever in 52 years fallen on my stump.  I've fallen plenty of times on my prosthetic knee...oh, gosh, feels like millions of times!  But never without the prosthesis on.  Och, it just makes me cringe, the thought.

And as far as names, for most of my life I couldn't use the word "stump".  I agree with Mitchee, it just felt too course, crude, blunt and uh-uh, nope.  But since I've been hanging out on a couple of amputee forums, for the last few years, I'm actually okay with it now.  It is after all a stump...a stump of a limb.  I used to fondly call it my "little leg", feeling sort of objectively sorry for it, but, hey, it's just a word and just a leg.  It's not me.

We can always start some more.....hehehe...  ;)

Even amputees are politically aware...

Tsk-tsk, I almost didn't open this topic up...I thought it might blow up if I did...hehehe!   :P ;D

I only ever get pain/discomfort at the groin, as I am an RAK and actually walk on my groin.  Most of the time it's okay, but there are days....!  Good ol' fashioned swearing days!

Steve, you are a rascal.  Hey, I'm heading to Wales for Christmas.'s the same thing, right?  (Kidding!!!!)

I love this little guy:

And I took, believe it or not!...eight years to buy my car:  four to lease and four to buy.  I love my Honda...and Honda really loves me!  As I think I paid for all the research and production for Asimo!   :P

I used to have some handsome tall leather boots, anne, and they just happened to tie up in the front (it was fashionable at the time), but if you checked with a good shoemaker/repair person beforehand, I'm sure you could get a well-placed and neat zipper up the back or inside of the boot?  Check it out before the purchase though.  (I love tall boots)

Oh, for God's sake, does it matter?  Does he really have to be saint to be president?  AND his whole extended family?  And I don't much care about Sarah Palin's aunt either...if she has any.  Jeesh!

What really irks me is that it's fairly obvious that McCain picked Sarah Palin to pick up the Hillary Clinton crowd...and that is such an insult to Hillary.  There is absolutely no comparison...except that they're both women!  Haha.

Actually it's an insult to ALL women.  If they've got T&A, by golly they must be the same, eh?  Nobody'll know the difference....hmm.

Nah, I'm here, ann!  I do think we got a tad off topic though!  And I'm sure our dear Fi will be back to grace our halls.  This darn election is causing TOO MUCH STRESS!  But it will be over soon and we'll go back to our extraordinary lives!

God bless y'all!   8)
