General Discussion / Pistorius's socket design?
« on: August 15, 2008, 04:03:19 PM »
I saw a portion of one of the programs (on BBC america) on Oscar Pistorius. I was intersted in the socket design for both his running and his walking legs. It did not look like a pin, suction, or strap system. Does anyone have a link to a description of his socket design?

Steve sorry for stealing your thread title. Perhaps it can become a forum category.

Anyway, Friday's LA Times had the obituary of Bert Shepard. A wounded WWII pilot who went on to be the only amputee to pitch in a major league baseball game.

Bert's story is quite remarkable and inspiring especially when you consider the technology and public opinion in those days.

I realize this is still basic research but we can dream. It is also nice to see DARPA funding being put to such good use.
