Insurance Coverage / Re: My Insurance

You should talk to your insurance provider and asks them what happens if they cannot make a product that fits and does not hurt?  I have a friend who after she went to her insurances provider and she could not wear the leg, they did not pay and later the insurance changed and allowed patients to picka practioner (patients could choose), We all have to fight more for equality.  You have to be carefull of who is owned by whom, you could get sent by a rehab provider to a prosthetic provider all owned under the same umbrella.  Hard to find out though.
Fight for yours and our rights. Good Luck :)

That's good advice, I agree 100%. Wish I would have know that years ago. My current prosthetist is awesome. He says I may be approve for a Genium. I think I may try to get one. Worst case scenario, I get another C-Leg.  ;)

Thanks for the eBay idea. I will list it when I get home. If anyone knows of anyone who wants a 1 month old Genium knee with Triton foot let me know.

You don't like your Genium?  Did you post it on Ebay?

I've thought about selling stuff but my Prosthetist told me (if I remember correctly) it was illegal for him to get used parts for my legs. Unless of course you can find an underground or back alley prosthetist  ;D

I ended up donating my old parts, I guess it's not illegal to use them in 3rd world countries.

New year, new insurance, and my prosthetist is on the list of "In-Network". Aetna 100% coverage.  :) Looking forward to a new leg.

Thank God I have good insurance. Had Kaiser before which always directed me to Hanger and I had to pay 20%

Moved to Cigna, no - copay, hope that continues.

METAL Sockets!  :o

In my opinion / Prosthetic vs the real thing
« on: May 09, 2011, 02:10:06 PM »
In my opinion, we will never see a knee/foot combination that can replace the real thing. I love my C-leg but I think we are still worlds apart from something that can replace a real leg. Bummer.

In my opinion alignment is crucial.

In my opinion socket fitment is crucial.

In my opinion you better watch your weight or your leg will get to tight and hurt.

In my opinion 20% deductible can still be a WHOLE LOT of $$$.  :o

In my opinion thank God I always had insurance.

In my opinion, no matter how much I pay a month for insurance, I'll never pay them back for all the money they have spent on me.   ;)

In my opinion regular crutches are better than the shorter "wrist crutches".

In my opinion you better keep some good tips on your crutches.

In my opinion MCP knees are the best! (as long as water isn't involved)
