Post by: ann on February 07, 2010, 02:33:11 PM
Anyone on here connected to the tea party movement?  You can contact me by PM if you don't want to start a revolution on here.   ;)

There is a widespread dissatisfaction among the populace.
November may be a big surprise for a lot of folks.  ;D

This is just my personal opinion. I have been a republican/ independent all my life and feel strongly that she is the reason John McCain lost.

Herb,  Can't believe this....thought Snowbear & myself & pegleg were the only non-dems on here.  Don't know why he lost...maybe it was her...but everyone was so totally under Obamas' spell, I feel they are finding out half of what was said was lies.

Who cares if she took notes on her hand.

Ann  and Herb, OBAMA won cause he was able to convince the younger gerneration that we needed a change and was willing to tell them anything to get their vote, which he was able to do, and yes a lot of them are waking up to the fact that a lot that he siad was a big lie, i was going to give him the benifit of doubt, until he tried to get our guys and gals come back from IRAG and AFAGANISTAN, to pay for most of thier health care, thats what really turn me agianst him, for i am a NAM VET, and am proud that i served and gave over nine years to my country.

As for Palin, i have droped her completely when she came out in support of GOV PERRY down here in TEXAS, PERRY is one big money grabing back stabbing idiot as far as i am concerned. all he wants to do is make his rich buddy even richer off of our backs down here.

Hi Ann - nobody would have thought anything if she had had the notes on a card or pad of paper. Having them on her hand made her look a bit juvenile. It was a small thing and will likely be forgotten soon. I think the news media needlessly made it into a big deal. Herb

Where Palin wrote her notes is the least of her problems.  She one big self-absorbed joke.  The thoughts of her in national politics is scary indeed.

Consider that she walked off the job as Governor in mid-term for no discernable reason except possibly her own self-agrandisement.  What would she do in Washington?  Is this the kind of flakey-ness we want running our country?

Sorry Dick...don't know if I want her for President, but I certainly do not agree with you on this one.  I think Obama is very conceited & egocentric....I would give him a {D}   :)

"conceited & egocentric" ... is this a pre-requisite for the job of President?  George Bush certainly thought pretty highly of himself, too.

That's not the biggest problem I have with Palin.  She just seems to be a "Loony-Toon" from the git-go.  Some of the comments that come from her mouth seem downright childish and naive.  Does anyone really want THAT mentality in charge of the nation?  The late-night comedians would have a field-day with her (they already do).

Anyone who is afraid of nuclear war, I wouldn't want her anywhere near the "Big Red Button".  I don't know if Sarah realizes that this alot bigger than moose-hunting in Alaska.

I'm sorry, but even if you don't love Obama's approach, Sarah "Moose-huntin' Mama" Palin is NOT the answer.

Everybody has an opinion.

What I'm saying is, even if you want to vote Republican, surely they could come up with more viable candidates than Sarah Palin.

Someone said that having Palin as his running-mate caused McCain to lose the election.  I don't know about that, but I don't doubt it was one contributing cause.

I just know the US can do better.

And what I'm saying is anyone can vote Democrat but Obama was voted in on his personality..not his knowledge.   I would have rather had Hilery  :)  As you can see the people are rising up against him & his Chicago Type Politics aren't going to get it.

Sorry we are @ such odds, but as I said everyone has an opinion.

That is what is so great about this country and this board, we can have very different opinions and express them and still be civil and friends.  I really liked Hillary myself.

You say: "Sorry we are @ such odds, but as I said everyone has an opinion....."

My reply is: I wonder if we really ARE at such odds.  If we get past the political posturing and showmanship and cute catch-phrases, and dig down to what really matters.  What do we really hope for in life - for ourselves, our loved-ones, our nation, and our world?

What do WE really want - not what the politicos, with their loaded agendas, tell us to want.

I have some ideas, but I want you to come up with your own, OK?

BTW - we are having fun digging out of the snow here in Philly.

It's refreshing to know that in Washington, not all the snowjobs are INside the government buildings this week. LOL   :)

I certainly want the Pres. to go after some jobs for all who are out of work...I want health care for those who do not have it...{not all people}.  Some don't want to change theirs.  By that I mean not mandatory change for everyone.  I want those who would like to build to be able to get loans.  I want health care to fill the donut hole for seniors...and then let us alone.  Today we paid out $300 plus we have insurance.  I want those who are amputees to be able to get prosthesis when needed { not just one every three years or whatever the insurance co. designates.

I don't want the government to be run by those the President has picked out of his home town {Chicago} not good.  I want the President to quit telling other nations we are not a Christian nation.

What are some of your wants.... & BTW I love the snow...guess we are in for another storm this weekend.  Better invest in a large snowblower lol.   ;)

Bingo!  I'd say I'm 100% in agreement with your first paragraph.  That includes good healthcare for more Americans without forcing anyone who likes their present coverage to change.  Oh yes, please get rid of the insidious "Donut Hole" that grabs me every year!  With healthcare costs escalating at many times the overall rate of inflation, costing Americans higher and higher % of their total income, AND that is escalating at a far faster rate than in ANY other developed country, taking decisive action to curb these excesses is a MUST.  Predatory insurance companies and predatory Big Pharma and the predatory Medical Industry has GOT to be regulated.

Whether it's in the Healthcare arena or Big Banking with all of its excesses, we are discovering that "Free Market Capitalism" with no ethics and no regulation simply does NOT work.  The greedy few with all the wealth and all the power and no sense of ethics, will happily take every last penny from everyone else, having NO concern for anyone's welfare but their own.  Not the mark of a civilized society.

More to come.........

To continue....As for Obama picking Chicago cronies, doesn't every President begin with people he knows?  Didn't Bush surround himself with Texas cronies?   What's important is whether the people are qualified, not where they came from.

As for foreign policy, I don't believe that the US should act like the Biggest, Baddest Bully on the block, arogantly telling every other nation how they should live and how they should be governed.  Fact is, we are ONE sovereign nation among MANY sovereign nations, large and small.  We should accord them the same respect that we want them to give us.

We are a nation with lots of Christians of many varieties.  But, if you read the  US Constitution, we are NOT a "Christian Nation".  We do not have a State Church or a State Religion, as some nations of the world have.  We enjoy an equal right to citizenship with people of various religions ... and even those who are not believers.

I'm a "Live and Let Live" person.  We can enjoy alot of freedoms in this land -- as long as we don't trample on other people's freedoms.

Sorry if I'm too long-winded.
