Title: awsome site and about me
Post by: crazy leggs on May 28, 2008, 03:37:49 AM
Greetings..I'm Charlie, a bilateral "BKA" due to diabetes. lost my left leg BK
about three years ago due to a foot ulcer, and lost my rite leg BK last Feb 08
also due to breaking my ankle and the fracture was just to extreme to heal rite.
so now I'm about four months since the amputation, and I'm on my second test
socket, and will be putting on my final new socket on the 4 th of june.
I was very worried about what it was going to be like walking on two prosthetics,
but I got some very good advice and encouragment from a fellow member of this
web site. I have gone from my walker to my cane, and now I'm starting to brave
a few steps without the cane, it's moving along better than I anticipated, although
most of my trouble is walking on un even ground, I can walk all over wal mart with
no balance problems at all (using my cane) but I found a great way to cheat, by
using a shopping basket as a walker. all in all I guess I'm doing pretty well, and thank god
for it........charlie

Hi Charlie, see that you finally made it to here, from what you have posted that you are getting along real good, and you are not cheating when you use a shopping cart for a walker, i do that very same thing no matter what store that i go into if the have them, if give me a bearer from other people bumping into me and knocking me down which has happened.

Hey jack....great to hear from you, I saw you'r screen name on here, but
wasn't sure if it was the same person. yes you gave me some great advice and
encouragment, realy put my mind to ease. but you are rite, in saying that walking
on two pros, is a totaly differant ball game. I got the hang of it pretty quick, but
it is sure a crazy balancing act. I can walk well just about anywhere, but when I
half to step up on a curb, or walk on gravel ECT. that's where I get a little wobbly.
but I guess I shouldnt be to hard on myself since I have only been walking on two
pros, for less than three months. wow I can't wait to see what I'll be like in a year.

again Great hearing from you again Jack.....CrAzY LeGgS..Charlie
