Been away for a while..
« on: April 13, 2013, 09:18:11 PM »
Got sick as a dog back in October.
12 days in hospital, but feeling tons better now.
Have lost a lot of weight(100 pounds or so).
My LBK socket now fits like crap!
Insurance took nearly a month to approve a new leg, but finally stepped up.
Had my first test fitting yesterday, it felt like I was Fred Astaire.
I have been in severe pain from pressure, and my balance is greatly compromised by the 26 plies of liners I am using to take up all the space in the old socket.
I liken it to a fence-post set in wet cement.
My co-workers tell me I walk like Foster Brooks. Shooting pains at all hours of the night, etc.
I have had to leave work early some days, and just come home and ice down the stump and elevate it above my head. My other health issues pretty well preclude any decent pain meds, due to possible liver and kidney complications.

My leg guy(he is tops!)  showed me the test socket, rattling around inside the old socket like one of those Russian eggs. Said he had not seen that much change in 30 years in the biz.

Should have the new leg in under 2 weeks, and my dog Nero and I can get out on the sidecar.

Hope all here are well. I guess we all just keep chugging along.

Damn Guzz, you've been through the mills. Glad to hear you're back on track.

I can imagine all those cotton socks are throwing everything off. The height of the leg must be different and so tweaking your back possibly.
Good luck on the new leg and have fun riding around on the bike.
Where ever I go, I'll always have one foot in Ireland   /   I'm not a complete fool. Some parts are missing.

Got the new leg today.
Feels weird to have one that fits.
Weird in a good way.
Shout out to my leg guy Jon at Holmes Prosthetic Center in Houston.
I could not ask for a more attentive professional.
Truly a pleasure to deal with.

Well Hot DAMN!!
So glad you got a leg that fits properly.
And glad feel like a new man
(My mind went somewhere else when I thought I read John Holmes)

And, I wanna see the dog in the side car.
I'm assuming you mean a motorcycle and side car set up.
I went with a trike myself.

Again, glad you got the new leg
