received a prank e-mail but still an exciting news for amputees
« on: December 07, 2010, 10:43:50 PM »
A business associate of mine from Shanghai/Hong Kong sent me a prank e-mail this morning claiming he has this ointment/cream that's going to regrow my leg.  He says he sent this prank because I've been giving him this lamae excuse that I can't beat him in ping-pong because of my prosthetic leg.  LOL

The news is that scientists have identified an enzyme that allows salamender to regrow their limbs and internal organs and this was a big news in China today.

Don't ask me why this was such a big deal in China today cuz I have no idea.  ;D

The enzyme is called amblox and apparently, this works on humans as well as wounds heal much faster and without scar.

Here is the English version of the story.

Of course further tweaking would be required before this can really regenerate human limbs but I think this is an exciting news.  Now that scientists know which enzyme they need to work with, I am sure it won't be too long before we start growing back our limbs just like salamenders do.  :D

The icing on the cake is that this ability to regenerate also comes with extended life-span.  This particular Mexican salamender lives for 25 years.  In human terms, that's like living for thousands of years.

Hey, guess what? I think us amputees will end up living lot longer than non-amputees because of our amputation!!!!
