well i am off to have my second fitting today and will find out if the insurance company is going to come through or not.or i wind up wearing my old legs longer and really take the chance of damaging my stumps to the point that i can not wear my legs at all.

Also just got this word this morning and a friend of mine and i havent seen the letter yet got from the IRS, no insurance no refund, this is what he has told me was in the letter. As i stated i havenot seen or read anything to this nature, except that OBAMA was going to put the IRS, in charge of this instead of the HEALTH DEPT were it should be, and that the IRS is going to have to hire 18000 people to handle all of this.

OBAMA, can get us out of this war anytime the govement choose to do so, there is too many fat cats making billions off of it for the goverment to do so.
you-all have a great day.

Hi, Snowbear:

Do I detect a sore loser in the crowd?

Is it raining where you are?  Hmmm.  It's nice and sunny here - we're in Obama country. LOL  But, don't worry.  Even when the rain gets here later tonight (predicted), we're still in Obama country. <smile>

Look on the bright side: you're still a citizen of one fine country.  Try to support it rather than tear it down.

Fear not, the Congress still exists.  If there's any shortcomings in the Healthcare Plan (as I'm sure there are), future sessions of the Congress can enact improvements.  It's still a work in progress.

I would think Obama should take your suggestions Dick & support this great country rather than tearing it down.

Hi, Snowbear; glad to see you're back. ;)

Ann:

Oh, I think Obama IS supporting our great country.  What I believe he does NOT support is that smug, arrogant, I'm-a-bigger-badder-bully-than-you-are-and-proud-of-it attitude that characterized the former Administration AND which won us nore enemies around the world.

I see Obama as leader of one sovereign nation meeting leaders of other equally sovereign nations.  I see the United States as a responsible member of the World Community of nations -- not as the arrogant bully trying to lord it over everyone else, trying to tell everyone else what to do and how to live.

Give the man a chance.  It's gonna take time to undo the damage to international relations that's been done in recent years.

here is the latest road block thrown up by my insurance company, i have to go to my PCP, and get a written evaluation of my stumps and why i need a new set made, so this is gonna delay getting them by a nother week. when i had my last pair made all i need was a prescription for them now they are making harder and harder to get any thing done plus wasting money, cause of the office visit that will be charged to the insurance company, my PCP wont do it unless i come in and she can phyically see my stumps.

Just wonder how many more ROAD BLOCKS are gonna show up now that we have this so called healthcare reform signed in law. I am just about to the point of giving up and becoming WHEEL CHAIR BOUND, my sockets are so bad right now that i am not walking right and have a sore back the is making it real rough on me and me getting anywork done around here.
you-all have a great day.

Hi Jack - hope you are able to work through your difficulties. Those roadblocks are placed by your insurance company and have been going on for many years. They are the reason why health care reform is necessary. I have had so many similar problems over the years that I have come to the conclusion that  the health insurance business is the crookedest business in the world. Your insurance company does not care about you, they only care about their profits. Herb

Jack:

Sounds like you're on an HMO plan - having to go to the PCP for every move.  Sounds all too familiar.

My insurance company switched me from a PPO (personal choice plan) to an HMO plan last December - BEFORE the Healthcare plan was enacted.  Since then, I have to jump thru the same hoops, too.

The premiums are cheaper (nice), but the referral runaround is more of a hassle (ugh).  Nope, can't blame the healthcare legislation for this one.

Gotta agree with Herb.  We need the Healthcare Reform before the Big Insurance companies bleed us completely dry.

Meanwhile, Jack, don't give up.  Keep fighting to get those new sockets made and fitted correctly.  Problem is with HMO's, the PCP is paid a fee per patient to try and slow down referrals to specialists.  Gotta remind your PCP that unless he/she is an expert in amputations and their complications (which the PCP probably is NOT), it's time to refer you to someone who IS an expert in your particular needs.

Hopefully, the PCP won't deny you that care you need.  If all else fails, remind them, do they know how to spell l-a-w-s-u-i-t?

Problem is insurance company thinks only of profits.  They are paying the PCP to help keep their profits up.  A wheelchair is cheaper than a prosthesis, right?

here is the latest on my sockets, am wearing a set of test sockets this week to find out if there is going to be any problems, got them yesterday and so far nothing on my right side just a real tight fit feeling which i didnt have before and on my left side am going to have to put a one ply on and get me back up off of my tibula, which is hitting bottom. dont have my new feet as of yet, havent got all the insurance okays as of yesterday, but my leg person feels that we will get it, and i asked him about what i was told that MEDICARE would not pay for a complete new legs every year and he told me that was a bunch of BS, that if i needed to have them remade every year and my PCP, backs us up they will pay for them, and he also told me that my legs would not stand up to a vacumm system, and i am now back to wearing the pin/lock system. which i dont mind just as long as i can get up and walk and do what i have to do every day. Although he is making a new set of sockets for my old legs so that i have two  pair in which to wear, depending on how i feel that day, and these will be a simi-vac system, they have a valve that lets air out and not in and will be wearing a sleeve with them and we are going with the OTTO BACH DURMA SLEEVE, had a set on my other legs and they have held up to some real rough treatment by me for over two months compaired to the one made by OWW, which if i was lucky would hold up for about a week, so we are going with OWW, locks and liners and the OTTO BACH sleeve, well that is about all for now.
you-all have a great day.
