« on: March 17, 2010, 10:20:20 AM »
been less than a year since i went to the LIMB-LOGIC VS system and found out yesterday that i have shrunk 3/4 of an inch on both stumps and need new sockets allready, we knew that i would shrink but not that fast, and now it stands to reason why i am having problems in walking, for my stumps are always sore and hurt at the end of the day and i also had a water blister show up on the end of my left stump and if that anit sore and it has been a week since i got it, and still have trouble getting my leg on and being able to walk and get some work done.
you-all have a great day.

vacuum socket like Limb Logic will eventually suck out all the flesh in the stump.  I don't know if that's true but that's what I've heard.  I've heard some scary stories about vacuum sockets.

I've also heard that some prosthetists wanted to speak out but Ohio Willow Wood and Hanger threatened to sue anybody saying anything about vacuum sockets.

genke, will get back to you on that, we are have somewhat of a fight down here right now with HANGER, bad mouthing the place where i am having my work done, and i know for a fact that HANGER, isnt very good and dont live up to thier word on thier work.
Now i was told that when i went to a vacuum system that i would shrink faster than with the pin/lock that i had and was wearing, which stands to reason cause of all the pull on your stump by the vacuum.

Dont think that i would be able to go back now that i have worn this system, one thing we did find out is OWW's sleeve arnt any good and have gone to OTTO BACH, DURUA PROFLEX, and it is holding up better and is more durable, and if it works well for me, YES were are going back to Oww and inform them of what we have had to do in order to get longtivity out of the sleeves, the sleeves are a silicon gell and heavy cloth one and you can get a good pull on them to make them tight for the vacuum to do its job.
Have talked to the service rep at Oww, A number of times and have allready told him about thier sleeves and he said that they were working on it and thanks for calling and talking to him, and will do the same on what i am using now if they hold up like i have found out from a person on here that has had real good luck with them.

Ann, they start making my new sockets next week, TUESDAY, and are allready ordering the parts that  i need like new liners, just hope to get this all done before the goverment get that dammmed bill passed.
you-all have a great day.

Ann and Jack:

Sounds like some heavy-duty political conviction/prejudice is clouding the real facts about the healthcare issue.  If you think the Obama folks are telling only what they want the puiblic to hear, you better believe that the opponents of healthcare reform are doing exactly the same thing.

You see, the Big Insurance companies are enjoying unbridled excess profits under the present system, and they don't want ANY legislation that may interrupt that gravy-train.  They have a vested interest in spending millions to campaign against the legislation.

If healthcare reform fails, just watch how fast medical insurance costs will soar upwards........

This is bit off the topic but concerning big insurance companies.... well, i've done some research and no major health insurance company have ever gone under.  Not in past 25 years, not in past 50 years.  None of them went belly up EVER!!!

You know in other industries, even the mightest of the might fall eventually.  Like IBM, GM, Yahoo, Rubbermaid, the list goes on & on.

But health insurance companies never fail.  Matter of fact, in this economy, while every other sectors like construction, retail, and manufacturing are on life support, health insurance companies are reporting record profit while paying its employees all kinds of bonuses and perks.

And I am sure what somebody like Ann will say.  "Well that's because the health insurance companies are the smartest companies in the world!!!"  "You do away with health insurance companies, we'll become a socialist nation."

This just shows the sad reality of how brainwashed individuals lose all reasoning and logic, not realizing they've lost their ability to think on their own.

Ann:

Looking at the mess our healthcare system is in, and how the Big Insurance and Big Pharma are raking in obscene profits at the expense of the American public.....while denying healthcare for so-called pre-existing conditions.....maybe the nasty word "socialism" doesn't sound all that bad!

Apparently, free-wheeling capitalism does NOT work in this case.  Let's face it, the average American wants a reasonably-priced health care plan....AND....the Big Insurance  companies want only Profits, Profits, and more PROFITS.....while delivering as little healthcare as they can get away with.

Please, Please, Let's give the proposed Healthcrae Plan a chance.

Hi Dick - I heard a story recently on All Things Considered about Blue Cross and Blue Shield. In the past they were all non profit companies. Now they are all very profitable companies. They all now have departments where the employees only job is to find ways to get people disqualified so they do not to pay benefits. They sometimes will take back a payment that they have made years earlier. These employees get bonuses based on how many people get their policies canceled. They can cancel a policy for such minor things as a person having failed to disclose that they had had acne as a teenager. They cancel policies for sick people who desperately need the insurance. I think that every person from birth to death should be guaranteed health insurance and that each person healthy or sick, young or old should pay exactly the same premium.

There was a story on NBC news tonight about medicare fraud becoming one of the most profitable criminal enterprises. Over $40 Billion last year. It is time to put a stop to that.  Herb

I agree with all that you recommend.

I'm not sure that Blue Cross is as bad as some other companies - but I don't have stats to back it up.

What about hospitals that try to over-charge ..... or charge the patient for the same amount that insurance already paid them.  I've had this happen more than once.  When confronted head-on, they just say "Oops, our mistake."  My suspicion is that it's more than a mistake .... hoping that some gullible people just pay and not ask questions.

Bottom Line is that there are too many unethical crooks, all too willing to bilk anyone they can.  Just think, Herb.  If we could get rid of all the cheating and gouging and padding of bills and insurance company shennanigans ...... we'd have plenty of money for first-rate healthcare for everyone.

But, of course, we know that the "U" in USA doesn't stand for "Utopia".

OK boys, my shoulders are broad, so bring it on.  :)  Genki boy, if I am brainwashed, maybe you just better take a look in the mirror.

Dick, you amaze me.  You are a retired minister {aren't you} and believe in our monies being used for abortion...and I would suggest if {socialist nation} sounds good to you, by all means find one & move.

If this Health Bill passes, when you are paying out the nose in higher taxes, and new taxes,  please don't let me hear your moans.  When some of your own party try to tell you this bill will increase your health bills & when Doctors stop taking medicare patients due to lowering payments to them...think & remember what you were told.

BTW I don't believe I was even talking to you about politics...I was talking to Pegleg.

Pardon me, Ann:

I thought I was on an amputee forum, open to all of its members.  I didn't realize that I was breaking into a PRIVATE conversation between you and Pegleg.

If you really want your conversation to be private, I suggest you e-mail him directly.

When you post on an open forum like this, many folks can read your post, and any number may choose to respond if they have something to say.

Ann:  What wish??   ???

Ah, folks.  Here in PA it's a beautiful spring day.  Hope yours is, too.

And, for anyone who loves his music, it's J.S. Bach's birthday.   :)
