According to the news article I saw, this is the second with a prosthetic leg.  The first is a 3 year old.

I wonder if they had to Risk Assess the leg (i think the patient may have been over the weight limit!). I wonder how they do their Gait Re-education?

Who knows but the elephant is doing good. Of course he can't say how it feels or if he has any phantoms. ;D

Snow dont quote me on this, but due believe that animals can control there nerves system better than we can, and yes i believe also that they do have phantoms like we do but are able to control them better.

the reason i say this, is i had a horse that got bitten in the nose by a rattle snake, we were able to get to him fast enough that his nose hadnt swelled up so that he couldnt breath, took two pieces of water hose and shoved one up each side of his nose, that is how he got his air from and you could see that he was in pain through his eyes and the way he held his head down, if a person looks close when an animal has gotten hurt you can see that they do show pain, By the way the horse lived and turn out to be one of the best cow ponies i had ever owned, venture to say the snake was made into a hat band and the rattles hung up on my wall next to a picture of him with the pieces of hose in his nose.

Sorry to high jack this thread, but felt that this would be of some use.
you-all have a great day.
