If amputees suffered from pain prior to amputation they may have greater pain after amputation. Which describes me. After many attempts to mend and straighten my leg since infancy..Odd as it may sound. I would have been 100% better off if amputation took place as a child and not all the operations. Amputation was suggested many times to my parents but they freaked...odd in the long run I had no choice.

I'm an exception to that rule then, I had a lot of pain over ten months leading up to my amputation and although I had very bad phantom pain for the first 2 to 3 weeks after the op, I have suffered very little ever since (over 25 years).

I have had nothing but pain since I was 8 months old and it continued throughout my life. The less a person has the less they phantom pain they have? I really don't know..Just know I have it 24/7...But i have a choice to try to have a life or sit and whine..I choose life! :)
