NOW WHAT!!!
« on: May 19, 2009, 09:43:58 AM »
Does anyone know what has happened to the other forum again...thought it was taken care of for the next year. ::)

In fact, is anyone else having a problem with it....or is it just me.

It wasn't being used much anyway, it's never been run seriously anyway.

Apologies, it was rightly pointed out I had been a bit clumsy to say the least... when someone publishes themselves all over the net it becomes too easy to see them as someone you can comment on without thinking... apologies again... not that I think I was being that harsh, just didn't need to mention names, bit too personal...

... thanks Minerva

It strikes me Ian Gregson isn't the most stable of people, who knows?! It wasn't being used much anyway, it's never been run seriously anyway.

This being such a public area, that's a bit harsh.

If very many depend on it, I would think they feel very let down :(  You don't treat people that way.

As for me, I am not going back...it's just a pain in the back side...ya' know. :)

I went to the site you mentioned.  The way I read it, to register you needed to fill out a form and get a physician's form filled out!  Am I correct???  That seems like an awful lot of work.  Thanks, Annieg

annieg :)

Yep, that's the same way I read it...they want to make sure there will be no un~desirables on that forum.  I'll also bet they don't have the fun we do on this forum  ;)

I imagine your prosthetist/doctor would sign it...without an appt.  :)

Right after my amputation, I sent an application (via snail mail with my surgeon's signature) to the ACA to have a peer visit.  I never heard from the ACA and I was extremely disappointed.  I am grateful that everything worked out but the ACA was of no use to me.  I found more support on this site and a couple of other forums.  Thanks Michael for this site, it has been a tremendous help!!!!

Mitchee:

I'm sorry that ACA didn't come thru with a peer visitor for you.  Dunno what's going on there...

I've been an ACA-trained peer visitor for 5 years, but have received very few referrals thru ACA.  I receive most of my contacts thru local sources.

I visit throughout metropolitan Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley, in SE PA.  It's heavily populated with plenty of hospitals.  You'd think there would be scads of amputations in this area.  So .... why so few peer visitor requests?  (Lehigh Valley Hospital gives me far more referals than ACA.  And we have several PVs at LVH.)

This has got to be the best-kept secret in ampdom!

Dick and others, am working with ACA and seeing if we can shorten up the regesitration bit, and i am like you Dick havent gotten any referals from them dont know why, but this is what i have done and am going this way.

Have called both hospital we have in town and am in the process of setting  it up so that i can be called if needed for an new amputation if the family wants me to talk to  them, that is one of the main reasons we dont get many referals, because of the privitize matter and legal aspects of it, the amputee or the family and sometime both have to sign or request us to come in, and we cant just walk in like some people i know do, not going in to  that end of it, cause i can get real nastly about.

you-all have a great day.
