« on: September 22, 2008, 08:28:38 AM »
hi to all, have been up since 2:00 AM with a zinger attack in my right stump. they are hitting it right in the inside angle bone area of my missing foot, have tried pain meds no help have my legs and liners on and the liners help some but they are still coming at me and i can almost set my watch with them, about every 10 to  15 seconds apart and man do they hurt, i would rather get hit with 110 volt electricity than have these do there thing to me.
you-all have a great day.

Did you try LYRICA? My wife's psychiatrist prescribed LYRICA to help ease her pain in the right stump, we have 3 volumes - 25mg 50mg & 100mg. It somewhat helped.

Oneblueleg, i agree if i could use it, but even the smell of the smoke from someone else using it make me sicker than all get out.

Lion_king, since my amputations i have gone though the full range of pain meds and for some reason none have worked real good, some better than others, abut thanks for the infromation.
you-all have a great day.

Peg, I understand your frustration with the zingers.  I have them every month or two, and not always the same leg.  I've tried everything from heat to cold and infra red.  The only thing that eases them after 4-5 hours is 200mg of Darvocet.  If I had them to last 24 hours without any letup, I believe I'd have to do something drastic.  A person can only stand so much.   Good luck to you.

Hi jack - I get the same sort of painful, spasms in my residual leg that you describe. They come about once a month and last for a few hours or a few days. I haven't found any pain medication that stopped them. They seem to run their course and then just disappear. They are always are worst at night and always keep me awake when I need to be sleeping. I find it helpful to as soon as the spasm starts push my residual leg down hard on the bed until the spasm stops. Herb

Thanks to all that anwered my request, the pain med's that i use finally took over last night and i was able to get some sleep and havent had any real bad sessions yet to day, i hope by getting some sleep has helped in stopping them. And i have found out that i was dehydrated agian, so i have tanked up on my water intake, hopefully that was all that is was. I sure hate them things, cause nobody in my family can understand just what i am going though allthow they say that they do, but if you have never had one of those zinger hit you i feel that there is no way you can know just what us AMP'S go through.

P.S. Herb, i sure wouldnt use those first two words in you post on a airplane. LMAO
you-all have a great day.

UGH! I hate them! zings and zaps and stings and pins! Awful. I have tried it all you name it. Nurotin until it came out of my ears. Lyrica, the sock that blocks it. Yeah right doesn't work. How is the acupuncture doing PLJ? maybe you need another treatment?   You have my complete understanding. I could be fine and out of no where BAM! a zap in the stump or my toes are being stabbed and they are gone!!

found out yesterday that by getting stressed out will bring them on real fast.

Here is what happened, i have a 24 year old grandson that i had told him to stop down loading music on my computer and giving it to his uncle that has a night club, and if he continued to do it i would send his uncle a bill of 1.00 per song that he down loaded and man did i get it both barrels from him, and i told him once he starts paying the bills around here then he could do what ever he wanted, until then i am in charge and will say what goes on in this house, he didnt like it but he stopped and got mad and left, saying all i was doing is picking on him, the bottom point is that if the club wants those songs they can pay for them. Plus you can get your self into some deep trouble by done loading songs from the wrong place and that kind of trouble i dont need right now.

you-all have a great day.

Hi Peg Leg - you can set your computer up to require a pass word to log on and do not give the password to your grandson. Let him get his own computer and internet service if he won't respect your wishes. Herb

Herb, it has just about come to that, but the wife uses my computer also and she has a hard time remembering passwords. Thats the main reason i have done it yet.
